• Broccoli Sprouts are one of most potent antioxidants on the planet: better than oranges, apples, blueberries, etc.
• Broccoli Sprouts have 50x more anti-cancer properties vs full grown broccoli.
• According to various researchers (including Johns Hopkins and Ohio State University), broccoli sprouts contain 1,000% more nutrients than mature broccoli.
• the magic is in “Sulforaphane”, the prominent phytochemical in broccoli. Sulforaphane is anit-cancer, prevents cancer cell production, removes carcinogens, removes breast cancer cells, tumor reduction, and more.
• consuming 1/4 cup broccoli sprouts daily showed improvements in energy, skin conditions, IBS, etc.
“Sprouts are easily absorbed into the system because they also contain potent digestive enzymes. Their flavor allows for easily adding them to all your favorite meals. Broccoli sprouts are also easy to grow and will keep for up to two weeks in the refrigerator.”
Broccoli Sprouts are easy to grow, something simple that anyone can do.

• Sulfuraphane is a powerful cancer preventative
• Sulfurphane generates only when the skin gets crushed/blended
• cooking or boiling removes the sulfuraphane (so eat raw!)
• freezing your Broccoli Sprouts may possibly double the sulfuraphane
• clinical studies in autistic humans show 7-30mg daily increases brain function scores by 34%
• clinical study shows more effective than Prozac for alleviating depression, also in alleviating degenerative diseases
• great for anti-inflammation, the most potent known activator for ‘Interrupt 2’ which activates 200+ genes (@42min)
• 60mg daily slowed prostate doubling rate by 86% (roughly 140g fresh weight broccoli sprouts or half a jar)
• 40mg daily for a week: Day #1 excreted 61% of benzene via urine. Benzene from being around smokers, and car exhaust exposure.
• lowers inflammatory markers by 20%
• improves cardiovascular health, lowers triglycerides, improves blood sugar by 20%
• delays aging & also brain aging
• Kale is a good source of Sulfuraphane, but broccoli sprouts are best. Sprouts are 100x better vs fully grown broccoli.
• If you boil or apply heat, the majority of sulfuraphane is lost, by adding mustard seed powder it helps generate sulfuraphane (but taste-test first, must have a bite/kick to it prior to adding)
• buying sprouts at health food stores isn’t recommended, expensive & not as effective, higher possible contamination.
Spend $20 for a pound of seeds. Use a mason jar with tiny holes. After the initial 6 hour soak in a dark place, you will drain & perform 2x daily ‘rinsing’ maintenance. Basically add water, then drain. Set the jars at 45 degree tilt so any remaining water drains out. Repeat about 3-5 days before sprouts are ready to eat. To avoid contamination, must have clean hands & countertops, and is also a good idea to harvest earlier vs later. She grows in batches of 6 jars.

Growing Broccoli Sprouts
For a fresh batch each day, start a new jar daily.
a) sanitize jars & lids (place in boiling water for 10 minutes) & sanitize seeds. Avoid contamination by always having clean hands & countertops, etc.
b) place 2 tablespoons of broccoli sprout seeds into your jar, add enough water for a 2-3 to 1 ratio, let the seeds soak for 6-12 hours, then rinse (see below).
c) perform rinsing 2x daily: Basically add water, then drain. Set the jars upside down @ 45 degree tilt so any remaining water drains out.
d) after 3-5 days sprouts are ready to eat, you can place on window sill on final day or two so the sprouts will green up.
NOTES: Avoid refrigerating while still wet, this will quickly kill any produce. So make sure that your sprouts are reasonably dry before you refrigerate them.
FAQs
Seed Hulls – Don’t worry about the hulls, they provide added fiber. An exception would be the shells on whole buckwheat and whole sunflower seeds, because they are too tough to eat. However, you can remove hulls from Brassica Sprouts (Broccoli, Radish, etc.) as they can be big (relative to the sprout) and wet to the point they compromise both texture and storage of the finished sprouts if not removed. You can use a large bowl or salad spinner.
Mold – Be careful not to confuse those white fuzzy root hairs as mold. Be sure to disinfect your automatic sprouter once a week, this makes a big difference. It can also be the seeds themselves, follow these steps to sanitize your seeds. Other factors to consider is too much humidity, not draining well enough, and not enough air circulation.
Smell – Brassicas will smell more than other sprouts, thanks to the sulfur smell from sulfurophane. However if the smell is overpowering, you may need to spend additional time draining more efficiently after rinsing. Also, check for any pockets of standing water if you’re using an automatic sprouter, and remember to always disinfect weekly.
Brown Sprouts – When growing sprouts hydroponically in a jar, or automatic sprouter, the colors should range between white to light pale yellow to green. The more indirect sunlight, the darker green the sprout leaves will be. But if your sprouts acquire a brown tint, it should be discarded as they are past their prime. This can happen if your automatic sprouter is too humid (needs more airflow), or if too many seeds in your tray & the water can’t drain efficiently, or if your automatic sprouter hasn’t been cleaned recently. Pay attention to discarded rinse water which will be a yellowish hue.
Feeling Lousy – Broccoli sprouts are excellent for detoxifying, and with your body suddenly eliminating toxins, it is not uncommon to get headaches, feel lethargic, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and more. This can last from a couple days to a week. The good news is you will feel much better once it is all said and done.
Daily Limit – Because sulforaphane is so potent in broccoli sprouts, it is recommended to not eat more than 4 cups per day. See ‘Chris Beat Cancer’ Module 3 @30-32min & Module 5 @21min. Two tablespoons of broccoli sprout seeds will produce roughly 2-4 cups depending on when harvested, and which method. Using the EasyGreen automatic sprouter you will harvest at day #5, and is roughly 2 cups. Using the mason jar method, when full, will be roughly 3.5 cups or 280 grams fresh weight which translates to roughly 120mg sulforaphane.
